Virginia McIntyre for Congress NY-25
Born and raised in Gates, NY, daughter of a retired Law Enforcement Officer, Virginia’s passion for music led her to represent the community singing locally in the Gates-Chili High School Concert Choir, the Bach Children's Choir and RAPA throughout her childhood and through the course of her university studies at SUNY Purchase College where she earned a Bachelor’s Magna Cum Laude in 2001. Virginia has always had a passion for serving the community. Her studies spearheaded a program in Mantova, Italy as the first representative sent from SUNY to the Italian Conservatory. Her performances gained the attention of the International Media as she won various awards across the peninsula.
As a Legislator, Virginia has supported tax reductions for seniors and veterans, advocated for improved transportation for individuals with special needs, increased awareness about the growing number of older adults in our area and their very unique needs, supported public safety and law enforcement as well as approving the use of funding for the training programs for new EMS workers to support ambulance services and all of our first responders. Virginia has been active, not only in the decision making process but she has also visited the locations receiving funding when possible to get a better idea of where those public funds are being spent.
Virginia has a deep commitment to serving our community and considers the concerns of her constituents in every decision she makes. She feels that public servants should be active in the communities that they represent in order to better understand the needs and values of the people which cannot be calculated simply by party affiliation. Virginia has decided to run for Congress out of a deep commitment to the community that she cares for immensely because it gave her the opportunities that led her to have a rich meaningful life despite her humble background. Virginia believes that every generation deserves to feel that same optimism and sense of unity for the future.
